Description

A Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster has arrived at our dealership.

The Jaguar E-Type, which made its debut at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, received an unexpectedly huge response worldwide and later became Jaguar’s flagship sports car.

Although the car was designed with the American market in mind, it featured sleek styling and a powerful, robust engine. At the time, very few sports cars could exceed a top speed of 200 km/h, and this model—with performance that was in no way inferior to high-performance sports cars like Aston Martin, Ferrari,Mercedes-Benz SL—it was priced far more affordably, making it an instant hit.
This particular model is one of the earliest versions and belongs to the Series 1/3.8, the most popular variant in the lineup.

The engine is a 3.8-liter inline-six DOHC unit carried over from the previous-generation XK series. Delivering 265 horsepower via an SU carburetor, its powerful torque and exhilarating surge of power were even more pronounced. The transmission has been upgraded from the original Moss 4-speed gearbox to an aftermarket 5-speed unit, resulting in an exquisitely smooth and responsive shift feel. Of course, it is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.

In terms of performance, the engine delivers a powerful and smooth surge from idle all the way to the top end, providing a truly enjoyable driving experience. Additionally, thanks to the larger radiator and a water pump with increased flow rate, you can drive in city traffic with greater peace of mind regarding overheating compared to the previous-generation XK series.

The interior is upholstered in red leather and, as you can see, remains in excellent condition even today. The soft top is made of black canvas, and the combination with the gunmetal body color is quite stylish. It looks great whether the top is up or down. This appeal is further enhanced by the combination of center-lock wheels and wire-spoke rims, allowing you to fully savor the charm of a British car.

The most appealing aspect of the E-Type is, without a doubt, its design. It boasts body lines so captivating they take your breath away, and that charm has not faded to this day. Its truly elegant design is the kind that brings complete satisfaction just by admiring it in your garage.

This vehicle was imported from the UK in Heisei 4 and has been carefully maintained by its successive owners over the years. It is in excellent condition, having undergone regular maintenance throughout that time. The body has been repainted and is in good condition. No major damage or wear is visible on the other mechanical components either. Considering it is over 60 years old, this car is in remarkably good condition.
The engine runs smoothly, and the steering is quick, light, and responsive. The braking performance and feel are also excellent, so anyone can drive this car as-is without any issues.

While this Roadster has been tuned to be easy enough to drive for everyday use, it is, after all, a Jaguar. Once you put the pedal to the metal, its powerful, masculine performance is a major draw. It’s the perfect entry-level classic Jaguar. We

highly recommend coming to see the car in person.
