Description

The Jaguar E-Type, which made its debut at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, garnered an unexpectedly huge response worldwide and later became Jaguar’s flagship sports car.

Of course, it was designed with the American market in mind, but its sleek styling and powerful, spirited engine...
At the time, there were very few sports cars capable of exceeding a top speed of 200 km/h, and this car—which offered performance on par with high-performance models like Aston Martin, Ferrari, and the Mercedes SL, yet came with a far more affordable price tag—became an instant hit.
This particular model is one of the earliest in the lineup and belongs

to the Series 1/3.8, the most popular variant in the series. The engine is a 3.8-liter inline-six DOHC unit carried over from the previous-generation XK series.Delivering 265 horsepower via an SU carburetor, its powerful torque and exhilarating surge of power were even more pronounced. It is paired with a Moss-manufactured 4-speed gearbox carried over from the previous generation and, of course, features four-wheel disc brakes.

In terms of performance, the engine delivers a powerful and smooth surge of power from idle all the way to the top end, providing a truly enjoyable driving experience. Additionally, thanks to a larger radiator and a water pump with increased flow rate, you can drive in city traffic with greater peace of mind regarding overheating compared to the previous-generation XK series.

The interior is upholstered in tan leather and, as you can see, remains in excellent condition even today. The soft top is made of black canvas, and its combination with the red body color is quite stylish. It looks great whether the top is up or down. This appeal is further enhanced by the combination of center-lock wheels and wire-spoke rims, allowing you to fully savor the charm of a British car.

The most appealing aspect of the E-Type Roadster is, without a doubt, its style. The Roadster boasts body lines so captivating they’ll take your breath away. Its truly elegant design is such that simply admiring it in your garage is enough to bring you great satisfaction.

This particular vehicle was imported from the United States in Heisei 26. It has been cherished by successive owners in the U.S. for many years and has been regularly maintained, making it a well-preserved example. The body has been repainted and is in good condition. No major damage or wear is visible on the other mechanical components either. Considering it is over 50 years old, this car is in remarkably good condition.
The engine runs smoothly, and the steering is quick, light, and responsive. The braking performance and feel are also excellent, so anyone can drive this car as-is without any issues.

While this Series 1 Roadster is easy enough to drive for everyday use, it is, after all, a Jaguar—and once you put your foot down, its masculine driving dynamics are a major attraction. It’s the perfect entry-level classic Jaguar. We

strongly encourage you to come see this car in person.
