We’d like to introduce the Mercedes-Benz 450SEL sedan.

The Mercedes-Benz W116 was produced and sold from 1972 to 1980.This W116 model was the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to be officially designated as the “S-Class.” Although full-size sedans in this class had previously been unofficially referred to as the “S-Class,” this model marked the official debut of the S-Class designation.
　Although the body dimensions are larger than those of the previous W108 and W109 models, the interior is slightly narrower than its predecessors because it was designed to meet new safety standards intended to protect occupants in the event of a collision. However, it features a Mercedes-Benz-style design that incorporates innovative features such as the world’s first ABS, hydropneumatic suspension,and the adoption of an economical turbo-diesel engine—it embodies the design philosophy characteristic of Mercedes-Benz.

Among these models, this particular vehicle is the 450SEL, equipped with a large-displacement 4.5L V8 engine.With its long-wheelbase body, it offers a spacious and comfortable rear seat area. The M116 engine, carried over from the previous generation, produces 225 horsepower. It is a quiet, refined, and smooth power unit.It delivered exceptionally stable handling at high speeds, making it one of the finest passenger cars of its time for long-distance touring. Favored by numerous VIPs worldwide, this model reigned at the pinnacle of the Mercedes-Benz lineup as a vehicle of unparalleled reliability.

　The interior featured a large-diameter steering wheel, generously sized seats, easy-to-read gauges, and user-friendly controls—a design that could be considered the standard for passenger cars and one that strongly reflected Mercedes-Benz’s philosophy of prioritizing safety.The policy
of “the best or nothing” was thoroughly incorporated into every detail, and this superb craftsmanship set it apart from other manufacturers’ luxury cars, making it the ultimate sedan.
　The velour seats in the interior are considered a material of even higher quality than leather; they offer excellent comfort, remain non-sticky in summer, and provide superior warmth in winter. Even today, this car is more than capable of handling long drives.

　This vehicle was sold new by Yanase in Showa 54. It has been carefully maintained ever since and currently has low mileage of 51,000 kilometers. As you can see, both the interior and exterior remain fully original and are in superb condition.
　Numerous past maintenance records are well-documented, and all accessories—including tools and a jack—are still included. It’s safe to say this is a car you’re unlikely to encounter again.
